Summary:

Forgetting Grant is all Sydney wants and Colin, the guy she’s had a crush on since seventh grade, seems like a pretty good way to do it. Then Grant shows up at Sydney’s door begging for a second chance and the more she gets to know him, the more she isn’t sure she wants him to go away. But with Grant in the picture, Colin is backing off and she definitely doesn’t want that. Everything is a mess and Sydney doesn’t know what to do, who to choose, or how to make those pesky cheerleaders leave her alone. She only knows one thing for sure, being STARKISSED isn’t a dream come true at all.
Characters:
Sydney is an ordinary girl with five sisters who all look the same and all have names starting with A. She has a best friend named Caroline and a crush on one of her sister's ex-boyfriends. Early in the book I don't really see Sydney's positive personality because she often puts herself down and has an inferiority complex. There are some glimmers though, such as being ordinary and not really caring what she says and being brave, although the reader becomes aware of that at the end of the book. I would guess Sydney is drawn well and does change in the book and she also doesn't get away from her convictions and what she believes is right. I feel that I really didn't get a chance to know Grant nor Colin. I did like Sydney's family and her superhero sisters.

Plot:
Its written in first person narrative completely from Sydney's point of view. I liked the writing style and the character herself was very engaging. I think I would have liked to see more of Sydney and Grant dates. I also feel that the resolution came a little too quickly, although it was a sweet one, and I would have liked if the book was slightly longer and would have focused more on the relationship instead of Sydney's hangups about it, so to speak.

Opinion:
I really thought I would be kind of annoyed with the book. Much to mine surprise, I enjoyed reading it. I was really rooting for the unlikely characters, and was really dying to know how things will workout between Sydney, Grant and Colin. Its a nice what-if fantasy that I'm sure a lot of girls can dream or fantasize about, a movie star falling in love. This is written for young adults and the style is really enjoyable. I did wish I could have seen some of Sydney's good characteristics earlier, instead of at the end. The premise itself is interesting; an ordinary girl who cares very little of celebrity somehow ends up having a famous man after her. I don't know how realistic it is, but the author does cover some unpleasant facts of being a celebrity's girlfriend, such as people changing around you, the paparazzi, everyone dictating or trying to dictate yourself. I also would have liked to see if Caroline, Sydney's friend, ends up with a happily ever after.
