Why did I add A History of Japan to my bookshelf? 

At the time I found it in half price books and it seemed a good solution to have something short and complete, so to speak. At least that's what I desired. I wanted to learn a bit more about Japan at the time, and if I remember right, I bought this book in early 00s, so it didn't seem out of date at the time.
