Characters:
Main characters include Joshua Thornton and Cameron Gates as well as J.J Thornton. Joshua Thornton and Cameron Gates are a married couple who share an adopted teenage daughter Izzy, while J.J is both a budding attorney and runs a farm and soon a restaurant with his sister Tracy who is a talented gourmet chef. There are also pets and animals that feature heavily in the story and that are guaranteed to capture the readers heart. In my view the characters personalities changes little, but that's what makes the stories charming.

Plot:
The story is in third person narrative from many characters points of view which include Joshua, Cameron and J.J Thornton. This mystery also has a lot of heart and it made my mouth drop open numerous times from shock. To be honest, although it stands well on its own, I wouldn't recommend passing up Lauren Carr's previous mysteries to understand and flesh out the main characters of Joshua, Cameron and J.J.

Opinion:
Since 2017, I have read about 11 Lauren Carr mysteries, mostly Lovers in Crime and Chris Matheson as well as Thorny Rose Mysteries, and it's a testament to her writing skills that Lauren Carr continues to excite me and pulls me in into her characters lives. Every single Lauren Carr mystery that I open is guaranteed to have an unpredictable and tangled mystery as well as animal and human characters that can capture reader's hearts and attention, and this one is no different, but it's far more tangled than I ever imagined or thought it would be. So buckle up for a very wild ride.
