Characters:
The characters do change throughout the novel, at least Leo does. I don't know much about Faith's back story to judge whether or not she changes. Leo is a loner by choice who has honed his skills through various mercenary acts. He is best described as loyal to those he calls friends who are just like family to him and he is also brave and very little frightens him. In the previous book he experiences a horrible trauma, thus he becomes defensive, angry and frightened of things he cannot understand. Since I know little of Faith, I guess she can best be described as having interesting sense of humor and she also has an understanding of exactly what Leo needs to trust her and the rest. She also puts her needs below that of others.
Theme:
Change a lot about yourself to get that special someone.
Plot:
Its written in third person narrative primarily from Leo's and Faith's points of views. In previous books the men themselves had supernatural element in one way or the other, while in this one Leo lacks supernatural elements. The story is pretty good in my opinion, but I guess it seemed a little too long, or perhaps I had a hard time grasping the chemistry between Faith and Leo. I have to admit that I really like scenes with Apep.

While the book was well written, I don't think it enchanted me as much as I wanted it to, and I'm not really sure why. Just like the previous books, its important to read the prequels first, and I would guess there are important secrets that are revealed within which have to do with Nightwalkers. What I did find interesting is Apep and his psyche as well as getting to know the world better. I also liked that it took a very long while for Leo to get used to and understand the world of Nightwalkers. I would guess what wasn't satisfying is that the characters kind of changed unrealistically, or that I was confused by the Night Angels society, despite Faith's explanations. Do Faith's people practice monogamy or not? I also feel that a certain character towards the end completely changed than what he used to be.
