Dandelions on the Wind

When Maren Jensen took a job on Elsa Brantenberg’s St. Charles, Missouri farm, she never expected to call the place her home. As she grows to love Mrs. Brantenberg and her granddaughter, Gabi, Maren is transformed from a lonely mail-order bride-without-a-groom to a beloved member of the Brantenberg household. But when Gabi’s father, Rutherford “Wooly” Wainwright, returns to the farm unexpectedly, everything changes for Maren, and she feels compelled to find another job. Are her choices in obedience to God, or is she running from His plan?

Personal Opinion:

First of all, I'm not the right person to read and review this book. But because I won as firstreads, I feel compelled in reviewing it. It's three novellas in one, an omnibus so to speak. I think its one of the first times that I actually have read christian fiction, and I am really not a fan whatsoever of the style. I am used to enjoying tales where protagonists take charge of their own lives and do whatever they can to achieve their goals. In this book, however, as well as the other two, the characters literally don't do anything but instead continue to live and pray. The stories themselves also tend to have predictable endings. I imagine that christian fiction fans will enjoy these three novellas, but not me, unfortunately. I also recall little of the first tale, aside from the fact its from a woman's point of view is a christian romance tale. Although I didn't like the passive style of the story, I did enjoy the added details though.

I won this as first reads goodreads giveaway. All opinions are my own
