A modern-day pastiche of Jane Austen novels. Elise is a bright, beautiful law student, focused on a career and distrustful of men. She butts heads with Greg, an alpha male haunted by past relationships.
Heartache and the specter of revenge. Unable to deny their feelings, they spend a night together. A jilted fiancée exacts revenge and forces them to face who they are and what they really want.
A love tale of this day. A delicious romance with a literary slant and spiced with a twist of whodunit, this escapist fare also takes us into the inner life (thoughts, hopes, and doubts) of the main protagonists as they contend with realities that often face couples in compelling relationships—revenge of a jilted lover, past relationships, abortion, career choices, reactions of friends and relatives.
Characters:
The main characters include Elise and Greg. Elise is in her early twenties and is a very mature and intelligent young lady who has ambitions of being a lawyer and doing good for people, even if she might disagree with their actions or motives. Greg, in beginning, is a player but he is also intelligent and becomes very enamored of Elise. Elise's parents are very mature and will do whatever they can to help their daughter, even if she does something against their wishes.

Plot:
The story is in third person narrative from Elise's and Greg's points of view. I also think that Elise's parents also few times get their points of view, but I'm not one hundred percent certain. The story definitely has amazing maturity and a charm that's not to be missed, but I think the characters themselves needed a little more work, or at least I would have liked to be with characters during their darker moments instead of the darker moments being brushed over.

Opinion:
The writing of the story is that of maturity and its easy to read and get into. Yes, an engaging and well written story. However, there are some minor issues I had while reading the book; first of all I didn't appreciate that brunnettes tended to be the evil characters in the story, and I couldn't help but wonder if the author had a bad experience with a brunnette woman in her life? Also as well, I enjoyed watching Elise and Greg discover one another and seeing how the two fell in love through conversations and getting to know one another. What I think I found a bit unrealistic is the instantaneous sexual connection the two experience and how it was the best of the best of their relationships. Forgive me for being disbelieving, but I'm a bit skeptical of that angle. I also think I would have liked more indications of how much time has passed between certain events, or how Greg managed to discover himself and what he wants. I think there is something else that felt a little off for me, but at the moment I can't think what it might be.
