E-Reading: Book Review of #3 Claimed! By Vicki Lewis Thompson
Name of Book: Claimed!
Author: Vicki Lewis Thompson
ISBN: 9780373795604
Publisher: Harlequin
Part of a Series: Sons of Chance
Type of book: 1946, 2010, Cowboys, ranch, second chances, guilt, Shoshone, Wyoming,
Year it was published: 2010
Summary:
Following a dream brought Josie Keller to Shoshone, Wyoming. Following her heart brought her plenty of great sex with good-time cowboy Jack Chance She was head over heels for him... until he left her.Stay with one woman? Not a chance Then why does Jack miss Josie like crazy? Had their relationship been more than just incredible sex?
Little do Josie and Jack know that a plan's afoot to get them back in the saddle...together. And once there, it's not long before they're burning up the bedsheets again
But the past is never far away. Before it catches up with them, Jack has to decide if he's going to stake his claim on Josie, or lose her forever....
Characters:
At the core the characters remained the same, such as Jack being a man of few words instead of being sentimental, and Josie being independent and going after what she wants, yet its obvious that they did change and grew together. I think I would have wanted to see more of the relationship building instead of the sexual aspect of the relationship. I have to admit that while they are memorable, they aren't that memorable.
Theme:
Love does come a second time around.
Plot:
This is written in third person narrative from both Jack's and Josie's points of view. The story continues on from the second book on Jack's attempt to get Josie back. I am pretty sure that I did sense chemistry between the characters, and Josie's reluctance on what to do when it came to Jack. I think the book is more focused on them, and while some issues are resolved, others are very cursory instead.

About this author
New York Times and USA Today bestseller Vicki Lewis Thompson believes love makes the world go around and laughter makes the trip worth taking. The recipient of RWA’s Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award and the author of more than ninety books, Vicki pioneered a new kind of romance hero with Nerd in Shining Armor. Following the success of her nerd stories, Vicki launched a boisterous paranormal series featuring a matchmaking witch and wizard, an ADD dragon named George, and a black cat inspired by her own precocious feline, Eve.
Opinion:
The storyline of rekindled romance is done by many, but I felt that the author has done it correctly and in a right way. Many times in Blaze romances, its always the hero that breaks the rules, but I was pleasantly surprised that Josie went after Jack first. To an extent the first two books are required because I felt that the author didn't really address Jack's work-aholic tendencies and why he's the way he is throughout the last two books. Nothing really new is revealed about Jack in this book, although I would say one can read it to get a sense of closure of sorts. (I kind of hoped that there might be a tie in or so between this book and books 7-9...) What is good about it is that immediately the author provides minor background information for those who have either started the series or those who hadn't read it in a while.
4 out of 5
(0: Stay away unless a masochist 1: Good for insomnia 2: Horrible but readable; 3: Readable and quickly forgettable, 4: Good, enjoyable 5: Buy it, keep it and never let it go.)
