Summary:
Characters:
From some chapters that I read the main characters are Luca, Touraine and yes, Pruett, Touraines former lover. The characters do grow and change parts of themselves as the story goes, questioning and wondering if their choices are the right ones. And yes they do make very questionable decisions.
Theme:
It's possible to grow and mature
Plot:
Story is in third person narrative from what seems like everyone's point of view, although the primary characters were Touraine and Luca, and Touraines former lover Pruett. I also will mention that one should read this immediately after reading THE UNBROKEN. Because there is no summary at the front at what to expect. It honestly felt as if the characters had matured and grown from some parts I have read and seen, yet the story remained similar in tone and characterization as to the first book. There is also a lot of Lucas family and homeland which gives a stark contrast between Touraines world and Lucas world.

Opinion:
I will be honest. It is too painful to read this book completely, due to the authors personal views on certain matters. I was in awe of the first book, devouring page after page after page as I looked at my own ancestry in a new light. ( Much like Touraine, my Jewish great great grandfathers were kidnapped and forced to serve in Tsars army as children, and looking at Touraine, I couldn't help but wonder how my great great grandfathers came back and lived as Jews among others, and how they were viewed by people.) From little I read, it is a good book and when certain matters are resolved, I will highly consider coming back to it and giving it the attention it deserves.
