Summary:
Aoléon, Gilbert, Bizwat, Helios, and Zoot make it to their final destination - Cydonia where Aoléon’s parents are being held captive. They infiltrate a secret underground base and are confronted by a small army of sentrybots.
Bizwat lends Aoléon and Gilbert some of his advanced combat skills via a psionic brain dump. However, this may not be enough to save them from overwhelming hostile forces that will do anything to stop them.
They finally meet Pax - the Martian who originally set them out on the mission to discover the truth about the Luminon and his plans to invade Earth. However Pax is not who he seems to be, and through a turn of events, they uncover the true power behind all that has been happening on Mars.
Will they be able to rescue Aoléon’s parents and save Earth from invasion?

Characters:
The main characters include Gilbert, a Nebraskan farm boy who got caught up in Marsian politics and trying to return cows back to earth. He is resourceful, observant and loyal. Aoleon is the alien girl and is Gilbert's friend. Trouble follows her everywhere but she is kind, strong, and isn't a damsel in distress. Bizwat is an alien from Mars who also happens to be resourceful, courageous, protective, loyal and brave. Helios is a robot who seems to be terrified of flying, but he is loyal and is a bit more philosophical than other characters. Zoot is Aoleon's pet and is a Martian dog of sorts.

Plot:
The story is in third person narrative written from everyone's point of view. This does feel like a bittersweet conclusion although one does hope that Aoleon and Gilbert will reunite sooner rather than later. Secrets and unexpected revelations are made known and most if not all of the story is completely action oriented, although the characters do seem to struggle with themselves. Yes, it is necessary to read the previous four parts in order to know what is going on.

A good conclusion to the series of books where once more Gilbert and Aoleon and others demonstrate the importance of teamwork and how its more important to work as a team rather than have one character save everyone else. When the stories do go that route of one character as being "chosen", its a strong pet peeve of mine, so its refreshing to read this type of story where team work is encouraged. I also feel sad at saying goodbye to Aoleon and Gilbert and do hope to see them in the future. Just like in previous books, the pictures are both amazing and breathtaking that one could hardly believe it is science fiction instead of something real. By the way, love the cows in outer space picture.
