G457 E-Reading Montreal Street Photography by Debra Schoenberger
Title of the book: Montreal Street Photography
Author: Debra Schoenberger
Publisher: Self Published
Publishing Date: 2014
ISBN: 9781320108362
Summary:
Montreal as seen through the eyes of a street photographer. These unusual images show Montreal and Montrealers from an entirely different perspective. Debra Schoenberger aka "girl with camera" has lived in Montreal since 1979.
Personal Opinions:
I'll be honest: I've never reviewed a photography book before. I do hope I'll do a good job of reviewing this one. By reviewing I'll be using my observations if possible.
I've never been in Canada nor in Montreal, but the book has interesting pictures, and few times I chuckled ironically at some of them. I also kind of wish that the author would have used names for some of them, which might make it easier to talk about some of them.
Its interesting to note that the book has both black and white pictures as well as colorful pictures, and black and white photos add some sort of melancholy to the scene, where a person doesn't seem to be paying attention to the camera. She even links some of the pictures together, like early in the book, the one with a boy holding a camera and below that is a picture of where Asians mourn those who are gone? Some of the pictures as well she's asking the reader to make a contrast between the pictures, like one where an African woman is encouraging a man to lie on her shoulder, and below is a picture of a young girl lying down on a woman's lap.
In conclusion, an atypical photography book that is geared towards a chuckle or two as well as some memorable and unique sights not found anywhere else.
PS: Love the dog pictures
