Summary:

Characters:
The only characters I enjoyed are Rark and General Griffin who are minor characters but yet they have quite an impact and livened the story up. The characters of Erik, who has a knack of becoming the leader, his friends and friends' girlfriends as well as Vani, I didn't enjoy the characters, I'm sad enough to admit. Even though Pike attempts to create them as multi-faceted, I feel that he doesn't succeed and fails instead.

Apparently life and death situations can be managed
Plot:
This is third person narrative, all of it from Erik's point of view. Unfortunately, even through the exciting parts i grew bored, but I think its because I have zero interested in science fiction and whatnot and somehow cannot wrap my mind around how it worked. There is suspension of belief because all of this happened in one day and science fiction or not, whether something traumatic happens, it takes days for full effect to be felt and to last. This one is basically happened and its over.

Christopher Pike wrote 30+ novels mainly for young adults, the most famous or well known one is The Last Vampire Saga, Final Friends and Remember Me, and his real name is Kevin McFadden. Opinion:
This is the second time I've read the novel, and just like the first time, I started to enjoy it near the end rather than beginning or middle. I don't really care much for science fiction in there and a ton of terminology gave me headache rather than taking away my confusion. This is one of Pike's early novels, which rather means if you're seeking eternal questions or Pike's trademark philosophy then you won't find it in the novel. Instead this is a science fiction adventure novel.
