Summary:

Characters:
The characters aren't themselves at all and Shari really angered me with her actions. The villain wasn't spectacular at all and was predictable. If you are a fan of Christopher Pike, you know who it will be. Shari failed in her mission and was incredibly selfish and thoughtless; she used her own name to write a story of her life, rubbing salt in the wounds of her family members against the advice of everyone around her. She also betrayed Peter and I always had impression that the two were lovers instead of just "friends". Why also didn't she and Peter get married? Why did she abandon Jean's Hispanic connections? Why no help for her mother or siblings? And why no update about Peter's younger brother? I couldn't feel anything for the characters.

Plot:
While the point of view is more stable, third person narrative from Shari, I saw no point in that science fiction story The Starlight Crystal and wondered why he put that in in the first place. I don't honestly understand it. (Just so you know, Starlight Crystal is completely different than the novel with the same name on it.) There are also inconsistencies. Is Peter's last name Jacobs or Nichols? And how is Roger a horrible character? I do want for him to explain it more instead of having the cop killed off.

Christopher Pike wrote 30+ novels mainly for young adults, the most famous or well known one is The Last Vampire Saga, Final Friends and Remember Me, and his real name is Kevin McFadden. Opinion:
Very tempted, very tempted, can't stop it... never in my life have I thought that I'll give zero stars to Pike's book. Besides zero stars, the lowest I have given is 2 stars, and his books range from 3 stars to 5 stars. There's so much wrong with this novel that I don't know how to start it. First of all I found Shari despicable in more ways than one: she failed her mission, she was reckless, and her story, The Starlight Crystal never made any sense to me. In addition to that, if she is sexually frustrated, why not, well, do other stuff besides intercourse? Why live like a nun with no options? And Peter/Lenny is her friend? I had an impression that he was her boyfriend! She completely discards her Jean personality. While reading this, all I could think of is Madtv's nice white lady. Enjoy the video.
